Nigeria forward Gift Monday has been selected for the NWSL Team of the Week.
She scored the only goal in Washington Spirit’s 1-0 win over Orlando Pride last weekend.
This was her first goal for the club, coming in her second appearance.
Monday found the net in the 63rd minute after capitalising on a mistake by Orlando’s goalkeeper Anna Moorehouse.
The loss marked Orlando Pride’s first defeat in 22 league matches.
Her teammates, Aubrey Kingsbury, Tara McKeown, and Rylee Bernal, were also honoured in the team.
Monday joined Washington Spirit from Spanish club UD Tenerife last month.
