Joy Omewa bags brace as Fortuna Hjorring extends lead to 10 over Nordsjaelland

Nigeria forward Joy Omewa scored two goals to ensure that Fortuna Hjorring defeated the nearest contender, Nordsjaelland, 3-0 in the Danish Elitedivisionen Championship group match on Monday.

The former Confluence Queens forward scored the opener in the 45th minute at the Right to Dream Park, Farum.

Ashley Riefner made it 2-0 in the 61st minute while Omewa put the game beyond the reach of Nordsjaelland with her second of the game in the 88th minute.

Omewa remained the highest goal scorer in the league with 16 goals and four assists from 18 games.

Fortuna Hjorring tops the league championship group with 44 points, 10 more than second-placed, Nordsjaelland.

The team will next face Odense Q on April 26, 2025.

With six games remaining, Fortuna Hjorring is in pole position to win the league.

Winning the league clinchs European spot for Omewa and her team next season.
