Gift Orban fined and suspended for Gent’s first career red card against Eupen

By Monsurah Olatunji

KAA Gent forward Gift Orban has been suspended for two games and fined €1,500 following his dismissal in Gent’s 2-1 win over Eupen on Sunday.
The 21-year-old was sent off in the fourth minute of added time of the first half for shoving an Eupen defender during an attacking play.
Of his 57 professional games, this is the first time he gets sent off and he expected to serve one-match suspension, while the other will be postponed.
Although Orban acknowledged his wrongdoing by apologizing to Gent fans on his way out, the Super Eagles prospect’s dismissal has come at a cost for the Belgian outfit.
The Super Eagles invitee is set to miss the clash against Royal Antwerp on Wednesday night and could miss the clash against RWDM  on Sunday, October, 1, if Gent does not appeal the verdict.
However, he will be back for the Europa League clash against Maccabi Tel-Aviv.
The former Staebek star has scored six goals in all competitions this season but has been on a poor run of form in recent games and unlucky with a reoccurring injury.
