Nigerian defender Glory Ogbonna has extended her contract with Turkish Super Lig Women’s side Besiktas for an additional season, rewarding her exceptional performance last season.

Besiktas announced the new deal for the Super Falcons defender on Friday through their official Instagram account.

In their statement, the Turkish giants said, “Besiktas United Payment team have renewed the contract of our Nigerian defender Glory Ogbonna within the scope of the transfer efforts for the 2024/25 season.”

Ogbonna, who was formerly the captain of Edo Queens, was one of the standout defenders in the recently concluded 2023/24 Turkcell Women’s Football League. She made 28 appearances and scored one goal, significantly contributing to the team’s performance.

Expressing her delight at the contract extension, Ogbonna said, “Since joining Besiktas, it has been an amazing time, and the fans have been great. I’m looking forward to seeing what the future holds and giving even more to the club and fans.”

Besiktas finished 4th in the just concluded league with 59 points, and they are optimistic about building on this success in the upcoming season with Ogbonna’s continued contribution.
