By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde
The late father of Nigeria’s senior women’s national team midfielder, Halimatu Ayinde has been laid to rest.
Pa Ayinde was buried according to Islamic rites after his demise on November 17, 2024.
He passed on after a brief illness as announced by the Rosengard FC player on her social media pages.
“With heavy heart, I announce the passing of my dear father. May his soul rest in perfect peace,” She posted.
The Super Falcons midfielder recently won the Swedish women’s football league title after returning from injury.
The injury ruled her out of the women’s football tournament of the Paris 2024 Olympics.
An integral part of the national team, Ayinde is expected to get her back into the national team ahead of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) as we hope she shrugs off her late father’s demise to bounce back in a bigger way on the field of play.
