‘Has brought a great relief’ – Emmanuel Osahon explains Robo Queens’ slow start
By Saheed Afolabi
Head coach of FC Robo Queens, Emmanuel Osahon has explained his team’s slow start to the current Nigeria Women’s Football League Premiership after a 2-0 win over Abia Angels on Wednesday.
The Lagos Landladies failed to record a win in their opening three matches, including suffering a home defeat to Edo Queens but they managed to turn the tide before the Christmas break, with a 3-2 win at Ibom Angels in December.
Since then, the Lagos-based outfit accrued four wins, including a 2-0 win over Abia Angels and Osahon, who guided the club to a successful pre-season campaign at Betsy Obaseki Cup, blamed over confidence for the slow start.
“I feel excited, very excited and I give God the glory,” the former international goalkeeper told Nigeriafootball.ng.
“Will God all things are possible, we will go to Makurdi to get a positive result against Nasarawa Amazons. It’s like that, over confidence and laxity caused it that we didn’t start the season well.
“But now we are back in full shape. I feel this win has brought a great relief to the team.”
After the turnaround, Robo Queens are third on the NWFL abridged group B with 13 points in eight games and are two points below group leaders Edo Queens who are on 15 points.
They will face Nasarawa Amazons at the Aper Aku stadium, Makurdi in their next game for a battle for the second place and Osahon’s side will seek to earn a positive result after a 0-0 draw first leg in Lagos.
