Hassenhuttl issues update on Ward-Prowse’s future amid Man United links

Ralph Hasenhuttl has reassured Southampton fans about the future of skipper James Ward-Prowse.
Ward-Prowse’s progress has caught the attention of major clubs, with Man City and Man Utd the latest to be linked, but Saints boss Hasenhuttl insists his captain has a long-term contract and will remain at St Mary’s.
“He has another four years on his contract,” Hasenhuttl said, when asked about Ward-Prowse’s future.
“He is happy here. He is our captain and he will stay here.
“Fans love him and we know how important he is to our team. The development of his game is why he’s a true winner.
“I think he’s very exceptional. I haven’t seen any players similar.”
The midfielder currently has a contract until 2026 and earns around £100,000-a-week at Southampton.
