Heartland boss in cloud nine after winning Nigeria National League title

Team manager of Heartland, Victor Onwuzurike is on top of the world after winning the 2022/23 Nigeria National League (NNL) and gaining promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League.

The Owerri-based outfit won six out of its group games to qualify for the 2023/2024 NNL Super 8 in Asaba, Delta State capital.
At the Super 8, the Naze Millionnaires topped the Southern Conference with seven points ahead of another newly promoted side, Sporting Lagos, Gateway Stormers, and FC ONE Rocket which qualified it for the final.
In the final match, the Owerri based side defeated another promoted side, Kano Pillars 2-0 to win the league title to the amazement of Onwuzurike.

“From day one, I knew that God was going to do it for me and all members of Heartland Football Club. Secondly, I give kudos to my players, and the Technical Crew,” Onwuzurike told Brila FM.
“I know that we have good players who can deliver. That is the reason why when I was talking I was talking with full confidence that come rain and sun, Heartland would come back and qualify to where we belong.
“Thank God we are back in the Nigeria Premier League where we belong. I am so excited and give God all the glory.”
Heartland added the NNL title to its five NPFL, three Federations Cup, and two Nigerian Super Cup making an instant return to the top flight in the process.
