Heartland Queens made a powerful statement in the 2025 President Federation Cup by decisively defeating Crystal Stars FC of Bayelsa with a score of 7-0 during a commanding Round of 32 match held at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba.
Despite facing challenges due to an incomplete squad—over half of the players lacking proper licensing—Coach Obi Ogbala skillfully organized his available team into a unified and high-performing group that showcased an impressive attacking display in Asaba.
The Owerri team quickly established their dominance. Just three minutes into the match, Oluchi Okwara unleashed a powerful volley from outside the penalty area, opening the scoring and setting the stage for a lopsided contest.
Heartland Queens continued to apply relentless pressure, generating numerous scoring opportunities, including attempts that struck the woodwork. Emmanuella James, however, found the net on the half-hour mark, skillfully maneuvering past her defender to extend the lead.
Only two minutes later, Onyeyechi Kalu elevated above the defense to head in a precise cross, bringing the score to 3-0 at halftime and leaving Crystal Stars in disarray.
The second half began with the same fervor. Captain Chimebere Opara joined the scoring in the 56th minute, connecting with a pass from Emmanuella James to make it 4-0, effectively extinguishing any hopes of a comeback for Crystal Stars.
Substitute Umujiaku Oluebube made an immediate impact, sprinting past a sluggish defense to net her first goal in the 66th minute. The offensive onslaught continued, with Chimebere Opara securing her second goal in the 81st minute following another defensive error from the Bayelsa team.
Ezeani Eunice, another substitute making her debut, capped off the scoring deep into stoppage time. Displaying remarkable composure, she converted her second chance of the match, finalizing a resounding 7-0 victory for the Owerri side.
