“He’ll certainly improve the team” — Janotka welcomes Tijani to Sigma Olomouc

By Oluwadamilola Olaleye

Czech side S.K. Sigma Olomouc have secured the loan signing of Nigerian striker Muhamed Tijani from Slavia Prague, with head coach Tomáš Janotka praising the move as a key addition to the club’s attacking options.

The 23-year-old forward joins Sigma on a season-long loan after returning from a previous stint in England with Plymouth Argyle. While final registration procedures are still being completed, the deal is effectively in place.

“We are happy that we managed to add Tijani to the squad,” coach Janotka said during the announcement.

“We expect him to provide significantly more competition for the striker role and certainly improve the quality of the team.”

Tijani, known for his physical presence and aerial ability, is expected to play a prominent role as Sigma Olomouc aim to improve on last season’s mid-table finish in the Czech First League.

The club’s sporting director, Ladislav Minář, revealed that Tijani had long been on their radar.

“Muhamed Tijani was one of the players we had been monitoring to strengthen our attack,” Minář said.

“For a while, he preferred opportunities abroad, but when the chance to bring him here came up, we acted quickly. I believe he will do well in our shirt, and that the move will benefit both sides.”

Tijani joined Slavia Prague in 2023 and spent part of the 2023/24 campaign on loan, gaining valuable experience. His arrival is expected to bring depth and versatility to Sigma’s frontline ahead of the new season.
