“He’s happy at Getafe” – Uche’s agent dismisses Premier League transfer speculation

By Oluwadamilola Olaleye

The agent of Nigerian midfielder Christantus Uche has dismissed speculation linking his client with a summer move to the English Premier League, insisting the player is committed to Getafe.

Uche, 22, has reportedly attracted interest from newly promoted Sunderland, Championship winners Leeds United, and Brentford following an impressive debut season in La Liga.

However, his representative, Peter Ejiasi, says there is no substance to the rumors.

“There’s no truth to those Premier League rumors,” Ejiasi told SP Getafe.

“He’s happy at Getafe and is now focused on Russia with his national team. When the transfer window opens, you hear a lot of news. It’s still too early to know what will happen.”

Uche joined Getafe last summer on a four-year deal with an option for a further year.

Valued at just over €20 million, the midfielder enjoyed a breakout season, earning his first call-up to the Super Eagles and helping Nigeria win the Unity Cup in London with a victory over Jamaica in the final.

While interest in the versatile midfielder continues to grow, his agent’s comments suggest any potential move will have to wait as Uche focuses on his development in Spain.
