Family Worship Football Club (FWC FC) of Abuja, led by Coach Bunmi Haruna, has made history by winning the FCT President FA Cup for the first time, overcoming defending champions EFCC FC in a thrilling penalty shootout.
The match, held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at the Area 3 Football Stadium, ended 0-0 after 90 minutes of intense play, sending the game to penalties, where FWC FC triumphed 4-3.
Coach Bunmi Haruna, former Assistant Coach of Nigeria’s U17 team and FCT SWAN chairman, expressed his delight following the victory.
He vowed to represent the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) with pride as they now progress to the Round of 64 at the national level.
“We fear no team. We will give our best to make FCT proud. It’s 11 against 11 on the field,” Haruna said confidently.
Looking ahead to the 2025 National President Cup, Haruna reassured FCT residents that FWC FC would continue to perform strongly.
With their victory, FWC FC has secured a place in the Round of 64, where they will compete against teams from across the nation.
