“I am not surprised” – Deborah Abiodun receives praise from Halimatu Ayinde
In a dominant outing in Abuja, Nigeria took a huge step towards qualifying for another Women’s Africa Cup of Nations with a big 5-0 first leg win as Abiodun made a strong return to the team since the World Cup
The talented midfielder announced herself to the world in the opening match against the defending Olympic champions, Canada, but was given a marching order with a minute left on the clock, and couldn’t feature in the tournament afterward as Nigeria got knocked out in the round of 16.
Proven that her World Cup performance was not a fluke, the Pittsburgh University star wowed the spectators with another unbelievable mastery and level on the pitch.
The Rosengard midfielder, who was rounded out due to injury, took to social media to heap praise on the 20-year-old, posted a picture of the two of them training at the World Cup with a message that reads;
“Shoutout to my incredible girl @Abiodundebby100 for a stellar Player of the Match performance against Cape Verde! I am not surprised by your progress,” she wrote on X.
“You’re truly our next superstar. Your skill, dedication, and passion on the field inspire us all. Keep shining girl! .”
