Ibrahim Olawoyin opens Super Lig goal account with a brace in Rizespor comeback

Sensational Nigerian midfielder, Ibrahim Olawoyin opened his Turkish Super Lig goal record with two goals helping Rizespor to a 3-2 comeback win over Basaksehir on Saturday.
The former Enugu Rangers’ mercurial player waited till his 14th appearance for the newly promoted side before registering his name in the league’s score sheet.
It also came at best time as the goals aided Rizespor to gain a bragging right over their rivals in the Turkish top flight.
The game started with and to end exchange with both teams went close to open the score sheet but it was Basaksehir who took a sixth minute lead after Polish winger Krzystof Piatek scored from a rebound.
Olawoyin rose higher to head in a corner from Jonjo Shelvey for Rizespor’s equalizer in the 13th minutes.
Dal Varesanovic make amend for his previous misses as he shot the hosts into the lead slotting home a rebound four minutes later.
Basaksehir even the score line before half time as the hosts allowed Ghanaian defender, Jerome Opoku danced his way into vital area before shooting past the keeper.
The second period also produced many scoring opportunities for both sides but it was the hosts who would have the last laugh.
With the sound final whistle staring imminent, Rizespor gained a corner which was dispatched by Shelvey. It became a contest around the goal area of Basaksehir before it was cleared to the path of Olawoyin who met it with a ferocious hit that glided past the crowded legs and the keeper and sent the Caykur Didi Stadium into wild jubilation.
The goals means Olawoyin has been involved in three goals (two goals and an assist) in his 14 top flight appearances for Rizespor.
The victory has also sent them to seventh on the Super Lig log with 21 points from 14 games.
