Calvin Bassey has revealed that the Premier League would suit Victor Osimhen’s style of play amid speculation linking the Napoli superstar with a move to England.
Despite signing a new lucrative deal, making him the highest-paid player in the history of Napoli, speculation about the future of the latest CAF Player of the Year has not ended.
Bassey has highlighted the qualities that make him believe that his international teammate, Osimhen is one of the best strikers in Europe and tailor-made for the Premier League.
“He is a joke — the only striker I know who can run a back line by himself,” he told The Athletic.
“He can run in behind, he can head, finish, he can do everything. The Prem would suit him. Hopefully, he comes at some point but I’d rather have him in my team than against him!”
With the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) around the corner, the Napoli goal poacher is expected to be a key player as the Super Eagles attempt to win the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time since 2013.
After Egypt’s Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane of Senegal, Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is arguably the tournament’s next biggest star.
The 24-year-old has 20 goals in 27 caps for Nigeria, and his impressive performance is noticed by his compatriot who would rather have him on his team than play against him.
