Nigeria striker Victor Boniface has rubbished media reports suggesting he failed a medical at AC Milan, insisting he is fully fit and ready to perform for new club Werder Bremen.
The 23-year-old forward, who sealed a loan move from Bayer Leverkusen to Bremen this summer, expressed his irritation when quizzed about the speculation.
“If my body is not fit I will be in the hospital and not here,” Boniface fired back.
“Whatever you want to believe on the media you can believe them, if the media say I’m a good boy you believe that, if they say I’m a bad boy you believe that, that’s on you. Whatever they say in the media is on them, I don’t care.”
Boniface enjoyed a stellar 2023/24 campaign with Leverkusen, playing a pivotal role in the club’s first-ever Bundesliga title win under Xabi Alonso. But limited game time and tactical rotations early this season prompted his decision to join Bremen in search of more consistent opportunities.
Reports in Italy had claimed his transfer to AC Milan collapsed over medical concerns, but the Nigerian forward has now put those rumors to rest, making clear that he remains fully focused on repaying the faith of his new employers.
With his move to Bremen confirmed, Boniface will be aiming to rediscover his best form and strengthen his reputation as one of Europe’s brightest young strikers.
