Ifeoma Onumonu scores and bags assist as Montpellier beats Reims in six-goal thriller

Nigeria forward Ifeoma Onumonu had two goal contributions for Montpellier during a 4-2 win at Stade de Reims on Saturday.

A hat trick from Judith Coquet lifted the travelers to victory in the league clash.

After a goalless first half, Coquet broke the deadlock in the 49th minute of play.

Three minutes later, Cameroon’s Monique Mgock equalized for Reims.

Onumonu set up Coquet who converted her second goal of the match in the 70th minute to restore her side’s lead.

Eight minutes later, Onumonu extended Montpellier’s lead before an own goal from Celeste Boureille made it 3-2.

Coquet completed her hat trick in the 86th minute.

Onumonu increased her goal tally to seven after 13 league games. She also had an assist.

Montpellier occupy the sixth position on the league table with 22 points after 16 games.

They will host Saint Etienne in their next league game on March 16, 2025.
