Nigerian internationals Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi have emerged as key nominees for five distinct awards at Leicester City this season, as disclosed by Completesportsnigeria.com.
Iheanacho has earned nominations for the Player of the Season, Young Player of the Year, and the Goal of the Season accolades. With six goals amassed in 23 appearances across various competitions this season, the Super Eagles forward has showcased his impact on the squad.
Similarly, Ndidi has secured nominations for both the Player of the Season and Young Player of the Year awards. The versatile midfielder stands as a pivotal figure in Leicester City’s lineup.
Competing for the Young Player of the Year honor alongside a pool of talents including Demarai Gray, Ben Chilwell, Fousseni Diabaté, Harvey Barnes, Hamza Choudhury, and Josh Knight, both Iheanacho and Ndidi aim to add to their commendable achievements this season.
Previously clinching the Young Player of the Year award last season, Ndidi’s consistency and contributions underline his significance within the team.
Interestingly, despite Ahmed Musa’s loan departure to CSKA Moscow without a Premier League appearance this term, he finds himself among the nominees for the Player of the Season award, showcasing the extensive list of players recognized for their efforts throughout the campaign.
Iheanacho’s impressive strike against Peterborough United in the FA Cup has been shortlisted among 10 goals vying for the esteemed Goal of the Season accolade at Leicester City.
The club has opened voting to its ardent supporters for the forthcoming end-of-season awards ceremony scheduled at the King Power Stadium on May 1. The voting process commenced with a set deadline for fans until Friday, April 20, with the official announcement of winners scheduled during the Club’s 2017/18 End of Season Dinner on May 1.
