Iheanacho Shines as Leicester Overcome Leeds, United Triumph at Liberty Stadium

In a compelling Carabao Cup fourth-round clash, Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho showcased his prowess, scoring his debut goal for Leicester City as they staged an impressive comeback against Championship side Leeds United. The match, held on Tuesday night, witnessed Leicester securing a 3-1 victory after initially trailing to a goal from Pablo Hernandez in the 26th minute.

Iheanacho, who recently joined Leicester from Manchester City, demonstrated his goal-scoring ability, equalizing in the 30th minute. The Super Eagles striker capitalized on a missed opportunity by Islam Slimani, calmly slotting the ball home. Slimani, the Algerian striker, later added to the scoreboard in the 70th minute, assisted by Iheanacho. The triumphant night for the Foxes was sealed when another Algerian, Riyad Mahrez, found the net in the 88th minute, securing a 3-1 victory.

Notably, the Leicester City squad included Iheanacho’s Super Eagles compatriots Wilfred Ndidi and Ahmed Musa, who were unused substitutes. As fate would have it, Nigeria and Algeria are scheduled to face each other in a World Cup qualifier later this month, adding an extra layer of anticipation and excitement for football fans.

Meanwhile, at the Liberty Stadium, reigning champions Manchester United asserted their dominance with a 2-0 win over Swansea City. Jesse Lingard played a pivotal role, scoring both goals for the Red Devils in the 21st and 59th minutes, securing a convincing victory and advancing to the next stage of the Carabao Cup.
