Ikechukwu Uche Commits to Gimnàstic de Tarragona Until 2019

Former Super Eagles striker Ikechukwu Uche has penned a fresh two-year contract with his Spanish Segunda side, Gimnàstic de Tarragona, effectively extending his stay until 2019. Uche, who initially arrived at Gimnàstic de Tarragona on loan from Mexico’s Tigres UANL last season, expressed his delight at prolonging his association with the club that he played a pivotal role in saving from relegation last season.

In a tweet shared on his Twitter handle @ikeuche9 in Spanish, Uche conveyed his excitement: “Muy contento de poder defender esta camiseta hasta 2019 💪🙌,” which translates to “Very happy to be able to defend this Jersey until 2019” in English.

The seasoned striker showcased his abilities in 24 matches during the previous season, finding the back of the net eight times for Gimnàstic de Tarragona, who secured a 14th-place finish with 52 points in the 22-team Spanish second division league table.

Uche’s journey in Spanish football has seen him represent eight clubs, beginning with Racing Ferrol in 2003. Throughout his career, he has left an indelible mark on the La Liga, amassing over 100 goals for various clubs, including Racing Ferrol, Recreativo Huelva, Getafe, Real Zaragoza, Granada, Villarreal, and Malaga.
