By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria forward, Jennifer Onyi Echegini is on cloud nine after scoring her first-ever goal for Italian giants, Juventus.

The former Florida State University (FSU) player came on as a second half substitute and eventually scored the match-winner during Juventus’ 1-0 win over Sassuolo on January 21.

The goal came during her second league appearance for the Italian side to her shock amazement.

“Hey guys! Super excited for this goal. My first goal. I will never forget it,” She said on Juventus Women X handle.

“Three important points, I am excited to go forward as a team. Fine alla Fine!”

Popularly known as “Joe Potter” by her friends and teammates, Echegini opened up on how the nickname originated.

“Actually I have glasses because I don’t see well,” Ecehgini disclosed on Juventus Twitch.

“I just wear my glasses in the morning because I don’t like putting on my contact lenses early in the morning because I just woke up.

“I don’t put them (glasses) in until I am ready to go out. People saw me and then started calling me Joe. I am from England and I am wearing glasses.”

With three points behind leaders and holders, AS Roma, Echegini has a role to play when her new team take on Fiorentina in their next league encounter on January 29, 2024.
