Abia Warriors’ head coach Imama Amakapabo has called on his team to adhere to their established tactics and beliefs as they prepare for their Matchday Two clash against Akwa United in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) this Sunday.

The call for unity and focus comes after a disappointing start to the season, where Abia Warriors suffered a 0-2 defeat to Remo Stars despite creating several scoring opportunities.

Amakapabo acknowledged the challenges faced in the opening fixture and emphasized the need for improvement in converting chances into goals. “Our biggest challenge has been our inability to capitalize on the chances we create,” Amakapabo said. “Technically, this has been an area we’ve been working on, and I’m confident we’ll get more opportunities in the upcoming game. It’s crucial that we take these chances to avoid similar disappointments.”

The upcoming match against Akwa United, to be held at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, is expected to be a tough contest. Amakapabo is preparing his team for a highly tactical game and stresses the importance of matching Akwa United’s intensity. “It’s going to be a highly tactical game. Akwa United will bring their A-game, and we need to elevate our performance and aim to secure all three points,” he stated.

Despite the setback of their previous defeat, Amakapabo remains optimistic about his team’s prospects. He reassured fans that the Warriors will stick to their game plan and team philosophy. “We are prepared for this game tactically. It’s unfortunate that we lost our last match at home despite playing well, but we are committed to our beliefs and strategies. On a good pitch, we will be able to showcase our strengths and play to our capabilities.”
