Isaac Success Watches as 10-Man Watford Stalemate Brighton; Newcastle Clinch First Win
Super Eagles forward Isaac Success found himself on the bench as Watford faced Brighton & Hove Albion in a goalless draw at Vicarage Road in the English Premier League this Saturday. Despite making Watford’s match-day squad for the first time this season, the Nigerian international remained an unused substitute.
The match sparked to life in the ninth minute when Nathaniel Chalobah’s header, following a Tom Cleverley cross, was dramatically cleared off the line. Brighton, in response, launched an attack with Anthony Knockaert’s shot, which was skillfully parried by Heurelho Gomes in the 23rd minute.
However, just two minutes later, the game’s complexion shifted as Watford’s Miguel Britos was shown a red card for a rough foul on Knockaert. Chalobah had a golden opportunity to break the deadlock in the 38th minute, but his shot narrowly missed the target.
In the second half, Brighton intensified their efforts to secure an opener, with Knockaert, Tomer Hemed, and Jose Izquierdo all pushing for a breakthrough. Nevertheless, the match concluded in a 0-0 draw, leaving both teams sharing the points.
In other EPL fixtures, Newcastle claimed their first win of the season with a commanding 3-0 victory over West Ham, with Joselu, Ciaran Clark, and Aleksandar Mitrovic finding the net. Swansea secured their maiden win of the campaign, defeating Crystal Palace 2-0 at Selhurst Park, while Huddersfield Town and Southampton played to a goalless draw.
