“It proved his mentality” – Rangers manager hails Dessers after Scottish Cup hat-trick

By Wale Mustapha

Philippe Clement, manager of Glasgow Rangers, has praised Nigerian striker Cyriel Dessers for his exceptional performance in the club’s dominant 5-0 win over Fraserburgh in the Scottish Cup on Sunday.

Dessers netted a clinical hat-trick and provided an assist, leading the Light Blues into the fourth round of the competition.

His performance was a powerful response after struggling for regular playing time following the rise of Hamza Igiamane at Rangers.

Clement emphasized that the goals were a testament to Dessers’ mentality and the hard work he has put in despite limited opportunities.

“It proved his mentality, the way he has been working in the last few weeks when he has played less than before due to the rise of Hamza,” Clement said.

“Cyriel is a very good character in the dressing room who works hard, and he got his reward for all of that hard work.”

This season, the 30-year-old forward has scored 15 goals and provided five assists in 33 appearances across all competitions for Rangers, continuing to demonstrate his value to the team.
