‘It will serve as tonic’ – Kabiru Dogo reflects on Kwara United’s first away win
By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde
Coach of Kwara United, Kabiru Dogo has reflected on his team’s first away win of the season following Wednesday’s 2-1 win over El-Kanemi Warriors in the Nigeria Premier Football League contest in Maiduguri.
Goals from Jide Fatokun and Oshagbemi Godwin canceled out David Nnaji’a opener for El-Kanemi Warriors and ended the winless streak of the Harmony Boys in the current domestic league campaign.
Dogo who replaced erstwhile manager Mohammed Azeez due to bad results believes the win at El-Kanemi is a sign of revival in their fading Nigerian topflight season.
“The team has been looking for a victory and thank God this one has come. Although it wasn’t easy. This win will put us in the right way to determine the stability of the team.” Dogo told journalists after the game.
“The win will motivate the team towards success in the second round. It’s a good way of rounding up the first round of the league. It will serve as tonic ahead of the second stanza.”
The win was Kwara United’s second of the campaign after a 2-1 win over Akwa United as Dogo’s side leapfrogged Nasarawa United to move out of the relegation zone in Group A.
With nine points after nine games, the Ilorin-based side occupy the eighth position, a place and two points above relegation waters.
