By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria forward Jennifer Echegini scored her first competitive goal for French women’s top-flight side, PSG, as they thrashed Dijon 6-1 in a league encounter on Saturday.

The former Juventus player scored two goals to lift the French heavyweights to a comfortable victory.

It took just 10 minutes for the Super Falcons player to find the back of the net before Marie-Antoinette Katoto doubled the advantage nine minutes later.

Echegini converted PSG’s third goal in the 36th minute from Sakina Karchaoui’s assist.

She had the chance of completing a hat trick from the penalty spot in the additional minutes of the first half, but her missed spot kick was converted by Manssita Traore.

Two goals in the second half from Karchaoui and Froya Brennskag-Dorsin made it 6-1 after Kate Taylor had reduced the deficit for Dijon in the 68th minute.

Echegini was replaced by Agueissa Diarra in the 76th minute after opening her goal account for the season with two goals and an assist.

The game was her fifth league appearance for PSG since switching from Juventus.

PSG occupies the second position on the log with 24 points after nine games, a point behind champions and record European league winners Lyon.

They will face Chiamaka Nnadozie’s Paris FC in the Paris derby on December 12, 2024, in their next league encounter.
