John Fashanu worried about Super Eagles’ inconsistency

Former English striker of Nigerian descent, John Fashanu has expressed his worries over the inconsistent nature of Nigeria’s senior national team.
The Super Eagles booked its place at next year’s African Cup of Nations (AFCON) after a 3-2 win over Sierra Leone last Sunday in Liberia.
The Nigerian side had surrendered a 2-0 lead before Kelechi Iheanacho’s goal at the death sealed the late win and winning two of its last five games in all competitions is a cause of concern for Fashanu.
“Of recently we won as well. Great but we don’t have the consistency. Consistency means every match we are winning because we are the Super Eagles.,” Fashanu told Brila FM.
“We have the team that everyone knows. We are the country that everybody fears and loves but our football has been very poor.
“There is a problem somewhere. We have a challenge and have to sit down to see what we can do to help our younger brothers.”
With 12 points from five games, Jose Peseiro’s side sealed a place at next year’s AFCON with a game to spare.
The Super Eagles will next face Sao Tome and Principe in its final game of the qualifiers in September.
