Jose Peseiro opens up on his 2023 Africa Cup of Nations target with Nigeria

Head Coach of Nigeria senior men’s national team, Jose Peseiro has set the target of wining the African Cup of Nations, AFCON taking place in Ivory Coast in January 2024.

The Super Eagles have been paired in the same group with host Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau and Peseiro has submitted provisional 40-man list that will later be pruned down to 27 for the tournament proper.

The Portuguese tactician believed his team is rich enough with experience and young blood to win their fourth AFCON laurel, emphasizing that they are keen to face any opponent enroute their quest for glory.

“We want to win the AFCON, so it’s not important to choose or want to avoid any opponent,” Peseiro told media.

“The best moments are all those I was and I’m with my players, working to improve our organization and our team spirit.”

Super Eagles will start their campaign in the competition on the 14th of January against Equatorial Guinea.
