Joy Omewa fires Fortuna Hjorring into next round of UEFA Women’s Europa Cup

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria’s Joy Omewa was the hero once again as Fortuna Hjorring edged Vorskla Poltava 1-0 in the return leg of the 2025/26 UEFA Women’s Europa Cup Qualifiers on Wednesday.

Omewa netted the decisive goal in the 14th minute, sealing the victory for the Danish champions in what was her 100th appearance for the club — a fitting milestone moment for the in-form striker.

The former Confluence Queens forward also received a yellow card in the 20th minute but played the entire duration of the match, helping her side secure a 2-1 aggregate triumph to advance to the next round of the competition.

The 22-year-old continues to enjoy an impressive season, having scored eight goals in nine league matches so far.

Up next for Omewa and her Fortuna Hjorring teammates is a league clash against Nordsjaelland away from home on October 18, 2025.
