Forward, Joy Omewa scored three goals as her Danish women’s top flight side, Fortuna Hjorring defeated KoldingQ 5-2 at Autocentralen Park to maintain leadership position on Sunday.

With a result of 2-5, Fortuna took 3 points home to Hjørring. This means that FC Nordsjælland, who came top on Saturday dropped to second position.

The battle in Kolding developed extremely interestingly. After a lightning start, where both teams scored in the 3rd and 4th minutes of the match.

Kolding also had reason to celebrate.
Fortuna’s Janelle Cordia was first on the spot, but the joy lasted only one minute, then Kolding’s Sara Amby had equalised to 1-1.

While Fortuna steadily worked to position themselves on the pitch, Kolding tried to make adjustments.

However, it was Fortuna who got the most out of it, when Anastasiya Pablahaila scored in the extra time of the half with a formidable long shot that did not leave Kolding goalkeeper Sofie Grøn a chance.

10 minutes into the second half, Emma Veletanlic showed that Kolding still wanted to play and scored to equalise.

Fortuna again ran its own solid run, sitting on almost the entire game.

In the 68th minute came the reward. Omewa had won the ball and headed towards the Kolding goal, but was brought down in the box.

A correctly judged penalty converted Fortuna’s top scorer, Omewa, into a 2-3 lead.

It was in the 23rd minute of the half, and then there were a few more Kolding turnovers, before Omewa again showed her danger.

The former Confluence Queens player completed her hat trick in the 85th and 86th minutes of the match respectively.

The hat-trick took her goal tally to 10 after 12 games for Fortuna Hjorring.

Fortuna leads the league’s regular season with 30 points, the same as FC Nordsjælland in second place after 12 games.

Fortuna has come through the regular season without defeat, and now has a brilliant goal record of scoring 32 and conceding eight.

On Sunday at 15 HB Køge will visit Nord Energi Arena in Hjørring to face Fortuna.
