Jupiler Pro League Playoffs: Tolu Arokodare talks Genk’s plan for Anderlecht trip

By: Wale Mustapha

Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare has shared his thoughts on KRC Genk’s approach as they prepare for their crucial Jupiler Pro League playoffs encounter against Anderlecht.

Genk started their championship playoffs in strong fashion with a dominant 4-0 victory over Gent last weekend.

Now, under coach Thorsten Fink, the Smurfs are aiming to build on that momentum as they head to Lotto Park, Brussels, for the upcoming clash with Anderlecht.

Arokodare emphasized that Genk is fully focused on the task at hand, stressing the importance of maintaining their intensity and determination.

The 24-year-old forward, who has been a key player for the team this season, noted that there will be no room for complacency or underestimation of their opponents.

“We don’t focus on the past, but on our football. It is a big match for both clubs. It is the playoffs. These are the games you want to play,” Arokodare said in an interview with HLN.

“We are a resilient team, you saw that last week against Gent. We want to beat Anderlecht with the same mentality as the whole season.”

He added, “There is certainly no underestimation. We don’t underestimate or overestimate anyone. We start from our own strength and pretend it is war.”

Arokodare has been in excellent form this season, contributing 20 goals and five assists in 36 appearances for Genk across all competitions.

With high stakes in the playoffs, the Super Eagles forward and his teammates are determined to continue their strong run and secure a crucial win against Anderlecht.
