Kada, Kebbi Fishers Shine As NBSL Matchday Two Thrills Fans

Ibom BSC produced one of the biggest surprises of the 2026 Nigeria Beach Soccer League season so far after defeating defending champions Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors 4-2 on Matchday Two in Birnin Kebbi on Saturday.

Uwana Aniete starred for Ibom BSC with a brace and was deservedly named Man of the Match, while Emem Ekong and Aliyu Aliyu added a goal each to complete a memorable victory. A double from Anambra captain Gabriel Chinweze was not enough to prevent the holders from slipping to defeat in their opening game of the title defence.

In the second match of the day, Jigawa Golden Stars bounced back from their opening-day loss with an emphatic 7-3 victory over Niger BSC, compounding their opponents’ struggles in the competition.

Captain Bagudu Hamza led the way with a hat-trick, while Rabiu Ali scored twice. Matarazu Salisu and Samaila Bawa also got on the scoresheet for Jigawa. Niger BSC responded through a brace from Abdullahi Aliyu, with Mustapha Usman adding their third goal.

The evening fixtures produced even more excitement, with 2022 champions Kada BSC defeating holders Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors 5-3 to hand the title holders a second straight defeat.

The game ended 4-4 in regulation time and 5-5 after extra time before Kada BSC edged through. Last season’s top scorer Dozie Frank was once again the star, netting four goals to take his tally to 10 after just two matches. Tanko Emmanuel also scored for the Kaduna-based side.

For Anambra, Patrick Onyebuchi and Gabriel Chinweze both scored twice, while Chizoba Uche added one for the Nnewi-based team.

There was also a stunning comeback in the final game of the day as three-time champions Kebbi Fishers BSC overturned a 3-0 deficit to beat fellow Kebbi side and debutants BAM Projects BSC 7-4.

Hassan Muhammad scored twice to inspire the comeback, while Sadiqee Umar, Usman Bello, Suleimon Abdullahi, Badmus Fuad and Hassan Abdullahi all contributed a goal each. For BAM Projects BSC, Nazifi Aliyu grabbed a brace, while Surajo Hassan and former Kebbi Fishers player Jibrin Yahaya also found the net.

At the end of an action-packed day attended by about 2,000 fans at Filin Sukuwa, Sani Abacha Bye Pass, Birnin Kebbi, spectators were also treated to traditional Tauri entertainment.

Round One of the competition will conclude on Sunday with four more matches.
