Kano Pillars overhauls youth system to strengthen long-term football development

By Dayo Awoniyi

Kano Pillars FC has announced a complete restructuring of its youth system as part of efforts to build a more sustainable and competitive football development structure.

In a sweeping move, the club has dissolved the technical crews of its youth teams—Junior Pillars, U-19, U-15, and U-13—effective immediately.

The decision, according to club management, is aimed at injecting new ideas, modern coaching practices, and fresh energy into the club’s developmental pipeline.

A statement from the club read: “This restructuring marks a bold step by Kano Pillars FC to align its youth development philosophy with global best practices, laying the foundation for sustained success and a steady flow of homegrown players to the senior squad.”

New appointments have already been made to lead the revamped setup. Ibrahim A. Musa will serve as Technical Adviser for Junior Pillars, with Coach Garzali appointed as Head Coach.

The U-19 team will be managed by Coaches Usman Ikramatu and Mustapha, while Habu Kamara takes over as Team Manager.

At the U-15 level, veteran coach Suleiman Ibrahim Yakasai (Lajin) will oversee development, while Coaches Nura Platini and Tasiu Pele have been tasked with guiding the U-13 squad.

The club emphasized its commitment to supporting the newly appointed coaches, stating that they will be equipped with the necessary tools and resources to succeed.

Kano Pillars FC, one of Nigeria’s most storied clubs, believes the youth system overhaul will ensure a consistent pipeline of talent for its senior team and reinforce its reputation as a powerhouse in Nigerian football.
