By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

In the latest twist after the dissolution of Kano Pillars interim board, the state government has dismissed the appointment of former Sporting Lagos coach, Paul Offor as the Sai Masu Gida head coach.

The Kano based Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side under the management of Babangida Little few hours before they were shown the exit had unveiled Offor as the new Technical Adviser of the four times winners of Nigeria’s top flight league.

Member of the Kano Pillars Football Club media and marketing committee, Wasilu Kawo in a statement issued on the official platform of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, (SWAN) Kano chapter, said the state government has dismiss the appointment of the new gaffer, saying it is an exercise that lacks the fertility of life.

The statement written in local Hausa language described the appointment of Paul Offor as an exercise that is suffering from lack of compliance with laid down official procedures that guides such matters.

Kawo quoted the state commissioner of youths and sports saying “Kano state commissioner for Youths and Sports, Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso has dismissed the appointment of Paul Offor as the new coach of Kano Pillars.

Further saying “the contracting and unveiling of Paul Offor was carried out without proper dealings with the relevant arms of government that were responsible for the supervision of the activities of the club, stating that the appointment would not stand.

It would be recalled that, the out gone management of the club had unveiled Paul Offor at a ceremony held on 12th July 2024, at Kabo Guest Inn.

Offor guided Sporting Lagos to promotion to the NPFL and was shown the exit door with few games before the end of the 2023/2024 season.

Kano Pillars dominated the league with three consecutive titles in 2012, 2013, and 2014 seasons.

Since 2014, they are yet to lift the league title, a feat they aspire to achieve ahead of the 2024/2024 campaign.
