Kelechi Iheanacho Returns to Leicester City Training After Injury Setback
Leicester City Football Club has announced the welcomed return of Super Eagles striker, Kelechi Iheanacho, to full training following a brief period on the sidelines due to a toe injury. Iheanacho’s absence was notable in Leicester’s recent 2-0 home victory against newly promoted Brighton and Hove Albion. His sole appearance this season saw him enter the fray as a second-half substitute during Leicester’s spirited 4-3 contest against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
Manager Craig Shakespeare conveyed positive updates regarding both Iheanacho and star forward Jamie Vardy during Monday’s pre-match press conference, preceding Leicester’s upcoming away fixture against Sheffield United in the second round of the Carabao Cup at Bramall Lane. Shakespeare expressed, “Kelechi trained this morning (Monday). We’re trying to improve his fitness. He’s got no real major problems, which is a bonus.”
Regarding Vardy, who had sustained a slight knock in the previous weekend’s game, Shakespeare reassured, “Vardy trained this morning. He was a bit sore yesterday, but thankfully he’s okay. He’ll be involved. To what extent, I’m not sure.”
With the team’s depth and competitiveness in mind, Shakespeare indicated his intention to implement strategic changes in the lineup, affirming, “I plan to make changes. I want a competitive group and we’ve got that. There are players that deserve a chance.”
As Leicester City looks ahead to forthcoming fixtures, the return of Iheanacho and Vardy’s positive progress serve as promising signs for the team’s continued success in both domestic and international competitions.
