Kennedy Boboye reveals dream to coach Super Eagles after UEFA C License

By Monsurah Olatunji
Kennedy Boboye opened up on his dream to handle the country’s senior nation team after he obtained a UEFA-C coaching license to upgrade his career in Ireland.
Boboye went straight into football coaching following his retirement from active football after spells at Fortuna Dusseldorf, KFC Uerdingen 05, and Manning Rangers.
The former Nigeria youth international began his coaching journey with Sunshine Queens, Sunshine Stars, and Abia Warriors before teaming up with helping Plateau United to win the Nigeria Premier Football League in 2017.
He then joined Remo Stars before replacing John Obuh at Akwa United and led them to the 2021 league triumph – earning a CAF Champions League ticket in the process. After leaving the Uyo-based outfit, he was named as an assistant to coach Salisu Yusuf in Nigeria U23 and CHAN Eagles teams.
The 45-year-old obtained his license from Irish Football Association on Saturday as he has now taken a step toward landing his dream job in the future.
“The only way you can be successful in coaching business is by upgrading yourself. This should be done at least every six months to stay up to date,” Boboye told media.
“I am happy to have been here. It was one of the best career decisions I have made. Hopefully, I will return for my UEFA B license before this year runs out.
“I have learned a big deal here and you will see the changes in my next job. As it stands, I have about four NPFL teams who are keen on getting my service.
“So, when I return to the country soon, I will consider the options before I know my next destination.
“I have won the Nigeria Premier Football League twice but my ultimate goal as a coach is to handle the Nigeria senior national team and help them to win laurels.”
