Kenneth Omeruo Extends Chelsea Contract and Rejoins Kasimpasa on Loan
Chelsea Football Club has announced that Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo has extended his contract with the London-based club until 2020. This development comes in conjunction with Omeruo’s return to Turkish club Kasimpasa on a one-year loan deal, marking his second consecutive season with the Turkish side.
In expressing his joy at the contract extension and loan move, Omeruo took to his Instagram page, saying, “God is Faithful… Happy to have renewed my contract with Chelsea FC until 2020 and also good to be back to Kasimpasa for one year.”
Omeruo’s association with Chelsea dates back to 2012 when he was initially signed by the Premier League club. However, despite his talent and potential, he has yet to make a competitive appearance for Chelsea.
Gernot Rohr, the Super Eagles’ head coach, had previously placed Omeruo on standby for the upcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Cameroon, scheduled for September 1st and September 4th.
This dual move signifies the determination of both Omeruo and Chelsea to further develop the player’s skills, offering him the opportunity to gain valuable playing time and experience in a competitive league like the Turkish Süper Lig. As the 2017/18 season unfolds, football enthusiasts will be closely following Omeruo’s progress at Kasimpasa and his potential contributions to Chelsea in the future.
