Kwame Arthur Delighted with Sportsville Icon Award Nomination

Veteran sports administrator Kwame Arthur has expressed deep appreciation following his nomination for the Sportsville Special Recognition Award, describing the honour as one he will cherish for the rest of his life.

Arthur, who was nominated in the Icon Category, praised the organisers for maintaining the credibility and consistency of the award since its inception.

“Let me start by saying that this award has been consistent for the past six years, and that speaks a lot about those behind it,” Arthur said.

“The integrity of the award has never been in doubt at any time. So I welcome my nomination, especially in the Icon category, with all my heart.

“This is one award I will cherish for the rest of my life.”

Arthur also commended the organisers for recognising individuals who have contributed to the growth of sports administration.

“That Sportsville remembers people like us to be honoured is something special and worthy of commendation. Honestly, I am really excited about this and this will no doubt motivate sportsmen and sports administrators to do more, knowing that their efforts would one day be celebrated,” he added.

The respected administrator also used the opportunity to advise young people aspiring to build careers in sports administration, highlighting the importance of dedication, focus and consistency.

“To excel in sports, you have to be dedicated, focused and be consistent. If dedication is there and the environment is right, then the sky can be your limit. You also have to remain focused and consistent,” he noted.

Arthur is widely respected across sporting circles in West Africa for his long-standing contributions to sports development, particularly his role in the formation of Nigeria’s professional league, the Nigeria Premier Football League.

He will be honoured in the Icon Category alongside fellow sports veteran Chuka Momah.

The award ceremony is scheduled to take place on March 28 at the Lagos Country Club in Ikeja GRA, Lagos.
