Kylian Mbappe celebrated his 100th goal for Real Madrid by scoring both goals in a 2-1 victory over Barcelona in the Clasico at Spotify Camp Nou.

The France forward produced a decisive performance as Real Madrid secured three important points in the Spanish league, but played down his individual contribution after the match.

Speaking to the club’s official television channel, RMTV, Mbappe said the team’s collective performance was more significant than his own goalscoring achievement.

“The hero of today’s match is the team and the group, because we knew we had to play like men and as one team,” he said. “We prepared well in the last few matches, played with the right mentality and gave everything we had.”

Mbappe, who left the stadium wearing a shirt marked with the number 100, acknowledged that Real Madrid had faced difficult periods during the match but also enjoyed spells of control.

He said the result was particularly important in keeping Real Madrid in contention for the Spanish league title, while warning that the players must continue working and collecting points in the matches ahead.

Mbappe demands more after Clasico win

The forward insisted that beating Barcelona would only have limited value if Real Madrid failed to maintain their positive form.

“Five consecutive wins mean nothing to us; we want to win every match,” Mbappe said.

He also called on the squad to carry the same level of enthusiasm into their next fixture against Racing Santander.

Mbappe said the Clasico victory would provide the players with a psychological lift, but stressed that it did not mean the season was over or that the team had completed its work.

The 100-goal milestone added another personal landmark to an important night for the France international. Mbappe said he was pleased to score and contribute to the team, although he again placed the collective result above any individual number.

Cristiano Ronaldo had reached the same achievement before Mbappe, but the former Paris Saint-Germain forward focused on what Real Madrid must do next rather than on the comparison.

Mbappe believes Real Madrid have the quality required to achieve their objectives, but said winning trophies will depend on the players continuing to operate together.

“The players have to move as one group, because that is the way to achieve the club’s ambitions this season,” he said.
