Ladan Bosso aims to avoid U23 Eagles’ mistakes in pursuit of U20 World Cup glory

By Saheed Afolabi
Nigeria U20 head coach, Ladan Bosso is eager not to commit the same mistakes made by the national U23 coaches in selection of foreign players in quest for success at the FIFA U20 World Cup.
In March 2023, the Olympic Eagles coaches called up fourth division team’s players to the national team, hindering the country’s qualification to the U23 Africa Cup of Nations finals, as well ruined their Paris 2024 Olympics.
Later in May, the Flying Eagles will begin their campaign for global glory in Argentina, where they will face off with Italy, Brazil and Dominican Republic in the group stage of the competition from May 20.
And the tactician is assuring that his side will avoid a repeat of the same errors in their quest for success.
“What we are trying to do is to put the finishing touches to our preparation. What are the finishing touches? Which is to blend the professionals that we have invited,”Bosso was quoted by Own Goal Nigeria.
“Thank God everything about the professionals have been positive. We’ve been able to Google and download and get the statistics of the appearances of the foreign players we have invited in the last ten matches.
“So, if you are not a regular player in your team, you can’t be here. All we are trying to do is to avoid the mistakes done by the U23.
“Because it’s a grave mistake inviting players that you don’t know their form. So we have to take our corrections from there and I think all things been equal, we are on the right path.”
The Flying Eagles will depart the shores of Nigeria on the sixth of May for Argentina to participate at the U20 FIFA World Cup.
