Ladan Bosso calls off Benin, Niger friendlies for Nigeria U20’s World Cup preparations
By Saheed Afolabi
Head coach of Nigeria U20 side, Ladan Bosso has called off the earlier scheduled international friendly matches with Benin and Niger.
Bosso confirmed the development after the Flying Eagles defeated Triple O sporting club 3-0 at the FIFA Goal Project, Abuja, while the tactician reveals that the team’s focus will now been shifted to play the Nigerian top clubs.
Bosso further said that Lobi Stars and Nasarawa United have been penciled down for a good test game for the U20 side.
“We plan to play Benin and Niger republic which will be a good test for my team, but unfortunately we are now looking at top NPFL teams to play now,” quoted by Paimedia.
“The countries we want to play didn’t qualify for the world cup and so they have no Programs running for their teams that’s why we want to send letters to the NPFL clubs that are close to Abuja for a friendly match.
“We are looking at Lobi and Nasarawa United because they are close by, but we see what happens.”
The Flying Eagles are entangled in group D of the FIFA U20 World Cup with Italy, Brazil and Dominican Republic.
The team will depart the shores of Nigeria for Argentina on the sixth of May.
