The Lagos State government has pledged full support for Ikorodu City as they embark on their debut campaign in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
The Oga Boys secured their promotion to Nigeria’s top-tier league during the recently concluded Nigeria National League (NNL) playoffs in Enugu.
Mr. Lekan Fatodu, Director General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, expressed this commitment while hosting the team on Tuesday, praising the club for defying expectations and wished them success in the upcoming 2024-25 NPFL season.
“Ikorodu City has shown remarkable resilience and determination. The government of Lagos State is committed to providing the necessary support to ensure the club excels in the NPFL,” Fatodu stated.
Joining Ikorodu City in the NPFL are Elkanemi Warriors, Nasarawa United, and Beyond Limits, who also secured promotion. Beyond Limits emerged victorious over Nasarawa United in a penalty shootout to win the NNL Super Eight playoffs.
