NPFL: Yemi Olanrewaju vows Enyimba won’t let guards down vs Plateau United

By Saheed Afolabi

Enyimba coach Yemi Olanrewaju has urged his players to demonstrate the determination and bravery needed to secure a win in their final game of the season, as they aim for a spot in continental football.

The People’s Elephant recently suffered a defeat to Sporting Lagos, despite having a goal disallowed for offside. Yemi acknowledged that the players were not in the right mental state following a controversial loss to Enugu Rangers prior to the match in Lagos.

He commended Sporting Lagos for their performance, noting that they deserved the win as they played better. Yemi emphasized the importance of not compromising in their upcoming league game against Plateau United in Aba.

“The breakdown we had after the Rangers game, it is disappointing that we couldn’t recover mentally. We are struggling mentally,” Yemi told the press after the game against Sporting Lagos.

“I don’t think we deserve the win today because Sporting Lagos showed that they wanted it more. That is not the stuff of the champion. Sporting Lagos deserves to get the three points.

“We cannot afford to toy with the game because that is the last hope that we have. Everybody knows what is at stake. We can’t compromise. We must give everything to get the three points.”

Enyimba will secure their qualification for continental football if they win their last NPFL game of the season.
