Las Palmas Announces Etebo’s Inclusion in Super Eagles Squad for Poland, Serbia Friendlies

Spanish La Liga outfit Las Palmas has officially disclosed that their midfielder, Oghenekaro Etebo, has received a call-up from Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr for the upcoming international friendlies against Poland and Serbia. Etebo, who has made a significant impact for Las Palmas since joining the club two weeks ago, will be released by the club on March 19th to join the Nigerian national team.

In an official statement on Monday, Las Palmas confirmed the news, stating, “UD Las Palmas player, Etebo, has been summoned by Nigeria for the two friendly matches that the African team will play in Poland, in Wroclaw (March 23) and against Serbia in London (March 27).”

The release of Etebo aligns with FIFA Regulations on the ‘Statute and Transfer of Players,’ highlighting Las Palmas’ compliance with international football standards. Etebo, having made 10 international appearances for the Super Eagles and scoring one goal, adds depth and skill to Nigeria’s midfield.

Before his move to Las Palmas, Etebo showcased his prowess at C.D. Feirense in Portugal, scoring four goals and providing one assist in 18 league games this season. Since joining Las Palmas, the 22-year-old midfielder has played two games and continues to be a crucial asset for the club.

Etebo is expected to join a formidable Super Eagles squad, including notable players such as Mikel Obi, Wilfred Ndidi, Ahmed Musa, Kelechi Iheanacho, Victor Moses, William Troost-Ekong, Leon Balogun, Odion Ighalo, Alex Iwobi, and Ahmed Musa, for the friendly matches in preparation for the FIFA World Cup in Russia.
