Lazio end red-hot Victor Osimhen’s goalscoring Serie A streak in Napoli loss

Nigeria forward, Victor Osimhen was helpless as Napoli were defeated at home 1-0 by Lazio in a Serie A contest.

The Super Eagles star has been on a scoring spree this season, having found the back of the net in eighth consecutive matches but could not rescue the Italian giants escape defeat to Lazio at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Matias Vecino’s second half strike was all Lazio required to condemn Napoli to their second defeat in the Serie A this season and ended the Partenopei eight games winning streak, despite Napoli dominating possession.

Both sides couldn’t find a breakthrough in the game in the action packed first half. Osimhen saw his effort hitting the goal post in an unlucky situation as Kim Min-Jae’s couldn’t finish from close range.

Napoli still maintain their top spot position in the Serie A with 65 points from 25 games despite the shocking defeat.

The Naple based outfit will welcome Atalanta to the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on the 11th of March 2023 as Ademola Lookman faces off with Osimhen.
