Leicester City vice-captain and Super Eagles midfield stalwart, Wilfred Ndidi, is poised to leave the club for just £9 million after the Foxes’ relegation from the Premier League.
Ndidi, who has spent eight seasons at the King Power Stadium, signed a contract extension last season that included a £9 million release clause — activated only if the club dropped to the Championship.
With Leicester’s demotion confirmed two weeks ago after a narrow 1-0 defeat to Liverpool, the clause is now in effect, according to BBC Sport.
The 28-year-old former Genk star has garnered strong interest from several Premier League clubs and top European sides, with French Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco reportedly leading the race, having tracked the Nigerian international for the past two seasons.
Ndidi has made 27 appearances across all competitions this season under manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, remaining a key figure despite the club’s struggles.
Leicester City are now open to listening to offers as they prepare for life in the second tier.
