Ligue 1: Moffi Marks Injury Comeback with Goal in Nice Victory over Auxerre

By Wale Mustapha

Nigeria striker Terem Moffi made a memorable return from injury, scoring as Nice cruised to a 3-1 victory against Auxerre in a Ligue 1 clash on Saturday.

The 25-year-old forward had been sidelined since the latter part of last season with a calf injury but returned to full training last week. After missing the opening-day fixture, he made the bench at the Allianz Riviera before being introduced in the 75th minute.

Moffi wasted no time making his mark, finding the net late on to seal back-to-back wins for Francesco Farioli’s side.

Nice had earlier gone ahead through Jeremy Boga and a Clement Akpa own goal, while Malian striker Lassine Sinayoko grabbed a consolation for the visitors.

The match also featured another Nigerian international, Gabriel Osho, who played the full 90 minutes for Auxerre.

Moffi’s return offers a major boost for Nice as they look to build momentum in the early stages of the campaign.
