Lorenzo Insigne warns wantaway Victor Osimhen against leaving Serie A

Lorenzo Insigne has warned his former teammate Victor Osimhen to think carefully before deciding to leave the Serie A champions Napoli in the coming winter transfer window.

Insigne had spent 12 years with Napoli, three of which as Osimhen’s teammate makes his comments following intense speculation about the future of the Nigerian striker at the Italian club.

However, the Nigerian international has reached an agreement in principle with Napoli on a contract extension amid interest from top European clubs.

Osimhen played a pivotal role as Napoli won its first Scudetto title in 33 years with his 26 goals to finish as the top scorer. He became the first African to be named best striker in the league’s 125-year history.

“I would tell him to think carefully before leaving Napoli because the emotional response you get here cannot be found elsewhere,” Insigne said per Football Italia.

“He will make the best decision for himself. I hope that he will remain at Napoli for a long time, and if the club has to make an extra effort on the contract, it is worth it, because there are few strikers as talented as he is.”
