Maiden WAFU-B U20 Women’s Cup: Falconets to open campaign with Niger Republic

Nigeria U-20 girls will face Niger Republic in its opening match of the maiden West Africa Football Union Zone B (WAFU-B) Girls Cup.

The draw which took place on Monday in Ivory Coast saw the Falconets pitted in Group B alongside Niger Republic, Burkina Faso, and Togo.

Host, Ghana in Group A will face Benin Republic and Ivory Coast.

The first edition of the WAFU B Women’s U-20 Cup of Nations is scheduled for Kumasi from Saturday, May 20 to Sunday, June 04, 2023.

Nigeria is favourites ahead of the tournament, having won the 2019 African Games competed by U20 sides an won bronze medal at the last FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, with most to make the squad for the tournament.
