English Premier League side, Manchester United are ready to launch a £107m summer bid for Napoli star Victor Osimhen according to multiple sources in the United Kingdom (UK) and Italy.
Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag seeks to solve his striker crisis by landing the current leading Serie A top scorer at Old Trafford and the Napoli striker is viewed as a solution to United’s striker problems.
Italian media, La Gazzetta dello Sport believe that United are willing to match Osimhen’s release clause.
Ten Hag’s side are reportedly prepared to match the British transfer record Chelsea paid for Enzo Fernandez by launching a £107m bid for Osimhen.
The Napoli man has become United’s top summer transfer target off the back of impressive performances that have seen him score 16 goals and become leading Serie A’s top scorer.
Osimhen’s impressive form has seen Napoli extend their lead at the top of the Italian league to 13 points.
United first-team manager Erik ten Hag has had to rely on an injury-prone Anthony Martial and January loanee Wout Weghorst to lead the line in United’s three-pronged attack this season.
But the Dutchman is keen to bring in a new superstar striker in the summer as he attempts to build on what has been a brilliant stellar debut campaign in charge of the Red Devils.
Osimhen’s 16 goals in 17 league games are one of his personal best league records and he also scored 19 goals in 34 league games for Charleroi during the 2018/2019 season before joining French outfit, Lille.
After scoring 13 goals in 27 league games for Lille at the end of the 2019/2020 season, the former Wolfsburg player switched to Napoli where he is in his third season.
The Nigerian forward scored 14 goals in 27 league games last season and has surpassed his league scoring records for Napoli this season.
